The Denali Series: The Great
One
This ammo can cache is located at a scenic outlook that will
give the visitor a chance to see Denali on a clear day. As the
Denali Highway was the original road into Denali National Park,
this spot was one of the first views visitors would get of North
America's largest mountain.
This cache was placed as part of a Father's Day 2007 Geocaching
Expedition to introduce visitors to the vast and unspoiled scenery
of remote Alaska. The terrain is a reflection of the difficulty in
reaching the cache location along gravel roads.
Original Contents included a log book and pencil, postcards,
mosquito headnet, 2007 AK Geocaching pin, and various other
items..
Please use good judgement and planning when traveling the
Denali Highway. The weather can change quickly and services are
remote. Food, water, good tires, and a well maintained vehicle are
required. Many car rentals companies DO NOT allow their cars to
travel this road. The road surface does vary greatly based on
weather conditions and cell phone reception DOES NOT exist along
the 130 mile road.
