itsme_timd: Well folks, this cache is no more. [:(] I went to check on it today and found it had become a victim of "growth" or, if you prefer, "progress".
I had this tucked away in a nice little wooded area close to my office park. There were lots of towering trees and a creek running close by - many cachers found out about the creek the hard way, by parking on the wrong side of it.
Now a road snakes through it, paved with a mixture of dirt and rocks and the mulch created by the trees that used to watch over the location. All I could find of the cache was the lid - mangled by some mechanized monster that destroyed its hiding place.
The road leads back to what used to be a sprawling horse ranch where my dog (GeoBoo) and I could take walks at lunch and the horses in the pasture would come to say hello. Sometimes they'd even share my lunch! Rumor has it this will be an upper-scale, mixed-use development. We'll all marvel at the shops, homes and offices. Progress and growth, you know.
The horses left a log time ago, and the white fenceposts now wear signs telling us that we better not cross them or we'll get in trouble - this land belongs to a big developer and I'm sure he's worried of the "liabilities" that he might face if we cross the boundary into his domain.
I saw a Horned Owl there a few days ago, first time in a while I'd seen any of the wildlife that used to be plentiful here. I couldn’t help but think that he'll have to relocate soon; maybe he'll find a better home, somewhere far away from this wonderful progress.
