This cache is up a well travelled trail and can be found just at the tree-line which according to my GPS was at 12,212 but Google Earth places at 12,176 so you'll have to be the judge. In either case, you're looking at about a 2,500 foot hike from trail head to cache.
Starting from the trail head parking ( 38°35'48.90"N, 106°11'49.50"W ) the hardest part of this beautiful hike is actually the first 7/10ths of a mile which is a steady uphill hike along a fairly rocky trail. Beyond that though, is a memorable and very enjoyable hike through the woods, along streams and on a nice trail with zillions of 'Kodak Moments' to be captured.
While our original intent was to make it to the summit, afternoon storm clouds started rolling in and with lightning in the mix we decided not to venture much past the tree-line and into open terrain (carrying our metal hiking poles to boot!). An earlier start (our bad) would have solved this problem so I would suggest, based on your hiking ability, to consider a sunrise start which should allow plenty of time to reach the summit (after finding the cache of course).
The cache, a sandwich sized Tupperware with a lot of small goodies for all, while not overly difficult to find, may require a bit of looking. Inside you’ll find the likes of:

* Indian headdress enameled pin

* Pair of porcelain ducks
* Enameled Colorado pin
* Wooden token for a free cup of coffee at the Broken Arrow Café in Howard (38-27.332N, 105-50.544W)
Please keep the cache well hidden as this is a well hiked trail and another cache placed further up the trail has apparently gone muggled
Please tread lightly, bring a friend for safety, even though the trail is generally well traveled, pack your trash to keep this beautiful trail well, beautiful and have fun.
