Geocache Description:

Camp Run, a tributary of Indian Creek, is a 4.1 mile long wild brook trout stream that flows through Forbes State Forest in Westmoreland County just north of Rt. 31. This stream is the only candidate in southwestern Pa. for special brook trout regulations as well as being covered by All-Tackle Selective Harvest regulations which are aimed at enchancing the natural reproduction of the state's only native trout.

Headwaters of Camp Run

***************

This cache hunt will take you to the headwaters of Camp Run where at a spring house the very first drops of water seep to the surface. From here the water flows out thru two ponds that are encircled by an open cut grass area before beginning its flow across the Forestry Lands on its way to Indian Creek.

***************

As you enter the open area from the woods, the spring house will be found on the tree line to the left of an upper pond. A lower pond can be found down around to the right.

You will be amazed at the clarity of the water and the aquatic plants in the upper pond.

***************

Be sure to take some time to explore and enjoy the area. This is quite an area with alot of interesting little sites to be seen if you take the time to look around. Blue heron frequently visit these ponds, so be on the lookout for them.

The cache is hidden somewhere over there a short ways in the woods. It can wait. We brought you down in here to see the area and to spend some, not just to hurry and sign the log and leave. So why not pack a lunch, grab your GPSrs and maps and head on up to the Mountains for some caching. I'm sure you will have a great day of caching and a day to remember.

* Good Luck, Have Fun and as always Be Safe *
