Butler's Rangers Cache Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Sapience Trek: As there's been no cache to find for a long time, I'm archiving it to keep it from showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.

Please note that if geocaches are archived by a reviewer or Geocaching HQ for lack of maintenance, they are not eligible for unarchival.

Geocache Description:

The coordinates will lead you to an information plaque with some interesting tidbits of local history. You will need information from this plaque to find the location of the cache, which is a very short distance from the plaque.

The plaque has become faded with age, but if you look close, you can see the date that is needed.

The plaque and cache are in a small park near the University of Rochester and Gennessee River. It's a gem of a park and has great random facts on the information plaque.

Beware the UofR Parking Staff! Parking on campus is free after 7pm, but before then you are advised to park a short walk away at the Genessee Valley Park. Use these coordinates:
N 43°07.308' W 077°37.979'

This micro is accessable in all weather conditions and is hadicap accessable.

Once you have found the plaque you can read about the history of Rochester's first recorded cache, which British troops hid in a stump on what is now the University of Rochester's River Campus.

Your task: Find the year that this cache was discovered.

Once you have the date you must divide the year into two parts. The first two numbers are AB and the second two are CD. From the plaque you will walk South West AB feet and then walk North West CD feet. At that point you will pretty much be right on top of the cache.

The plaque has become faded with age, but if you look close, you can see the date that is needed.
