Follow a short-but-steep section of the powerline trail down to the
south side of May Creek, and enjoy the lovely creek and solitude.
The parking area may occasionally need some CITO (alas), but
this right-of-way is the access point for trails and ATV activity
on both sides of the road. Follow your GPS toward the creek, and
prepare for a steep descent. When you reach the bottom, an
overgrown trail leads to a quiet, hidden glade by the
streamside.
Reception can be spotty in the ravine, with GPS jumping around a
lot, so you may want to bring the spoiler photo that's on this
page. Cache is a bison tube; bring a pencil, and don't remove the
top from its attachment. When you’re done, reposition the cache so
that neither it or the attachment are visible.
Please do NOT climb on the downed tree trunks, as you may break
them. This cache is already harder to access than when originally
placed, requiring either contortion or wet feet, thanks to someone
breaking one of the trunks in a critical spot.
Also, this cache may be harder to access (with dry feet) when
the creek is high (e.g., winter).
