Geocache Description:

This is a puzzle/cipher cache in Johnson City’s Buffalo Mountain Park. Due to heavy tree cover in the area, coordinates are only accurate to 30 feet. Therefore, additional information has been provided in the description and hint.

The cache is not at the above coordinates!

The coordinates above correspond to an area within the park. The mystery, however, begins right where you are…

The message below has been enciphered with a substitution encryption known by many names; however, it is commonly referred to as a disc, or shift, cipher. A representation of a wheel similar to the one used for this cache is shown below.

Using this Cipher System:
This type of substitution cipher uses two or more discs, each with the alphabet printed in nonrandomized order on its face. The wheels are then offset a certain number of characters to encrypt data. In the above photo, the offset is seven, as the “A” on the inside wheel has moved seven places to the right of the “A” on the outside wheel (the hint encryption on geocaching.com uses an offset of 13). The decryption process becomes more challenging as additional wheels are added.

You should print one of these before you set out, to save some time on the trail:

You will need to proceed to the listed coordinates. Here you will find a sign. Count the letters in the second line first word. This will be the shift for the text below:
