This INKY picnic will be at Veteran's Memorial Park in Jeffersontown, KY (10707 Taylorsville Rd.). Posted coordinates are for the entrance to the park. As you turn into it at the parking area, we hope to be at Pavillion #6 at the back. (Pavillions are non-reservable on weekdays. Smee and I will grab this one early, but if we're beaten to the punch we'll have one of the others nearby.) We'll begin serving food at 6:30pm. The park stays open until 11:00pm.
The halcyon days of spring are behind us, and we now have the dog days of summer looming straight ahead. Enhanced a bit by global warming, the only way to survive them, at least while attempting to enjoy the great outdoors, is to have a picnic. That's our story, and we're sticking to it!
For this festive gettogether, Smee and I will supply fried chicken, paper plates, drink cups, napkins, plastic utensils and a cooler full of ice. As is the custom for summer picnics, this one will be a "potluck" affair, so in addition to bringing your own drinks, please surprise the group with a favorite vegetable, salad, dessert or whatever to complete the menu for the evening. If you can, please give some general idea of what you will be bringing when you place your log note. That way others will able to plan their dishes accordingly. (Once again, multiple squash casseroles are always welcome-- at least by me....)
Now where did I put those long stilts and Uncle Sam costume?
