Geocache Description:

This fine seven foot Cross is always called Windy post these day, although it’s proper name seems to be Beckamoor Cross, it’s octagonal shaft is probably more recent than many others marking ancient tracks across the moor, but nevertheless it must have been standing here for not less than 500 years. Former tracks from Tavistock to Chagford, Ashburton, and Buckfast all passed this way. Within a short stone’s throw of the cross is another item of interest an “inch hole” or “bull’s eye” drilled through the rectangular boulder which blocks the leat. This allows a fixed amount of water to be supplied to a farm. The main branch of the leat runs off to the right, and about 150 yards further another bull’s eye stone can be found. No Pen/Pencil
