Geocache Description:

This cache overlooks a circular plaza at the southern end of Riverside Park. The plaza was one of the first Holocaust memorials in the United States. (Dedicated on October 19, 1947 by Mayor William O’Dwyer.)

According to the park signage, buried beneath a plaque are two boxes containing soil from two concentration camps in the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic (formerly Czechoslovakia) and a scroll describing the defense of the Warsaw Ghetto.

There is no need to climb over the fencing or trample through the garden areas. Look for the narrow path to the cache area.

The cache container is a duplicate of the one at “Riftstone” – perfect for coins, travel bugs or small items.

Evidently popular with glass bottle breakers, this would be an excellent spot for urban CITO (Cache In Trash Out). Bring a small garbage bag and help out. There is a trash can within yards of the cache.

Congrats to EVF for FTF!
