Come on out to Mississinewa Reservoir,
to the Modern Campground Program Shelter at Miami State
Recreation Area for a fun day of caching with friends. An
entire weekend of events are planned for geocachers! Set up
camp, and plan on joining us for all the activities. The
Geocaching Event coincides with an entire"Survivor
Weekend!"
Through the ages, the rushing waters of
what is now known as the “Mississinewa”(Miami Indian name
Mischis-in-wah... water on a slope) washed away the soft limestone
of the riverbank creating a number of pillar-like formations known
as “Cliffs of the Seven Pillars.” This wonder of nature may be
viewed from the riverbank - reached via a footpath from the Frances
Slocum Trail.

ONE OF THE SEVEN PILLARS
,
Situated seven miles southeast of Peru in
north central Indiana on the Mississinewa River, Mississinewa Lake
(Miami State Recreation Area) is located on State Road 13 and is
accessible from U.S. 31 on the west and State Road 15 on the
east.
There is a $3.00 DNR Activity Fee for
participation in this event as well as the $5.00 per vehicle Gate
Fee.
