Unlike my other hides, this is a simple and straightforward cache – no tricks or puzzles to solve. Just go to the posted coordinates and search for the cache.
Prince Edward County is rich with maritime history – from ships disappearing in the Marysburgh Vortex, to rum running during the Prohibition. This little adventure will take you to Point Traverse where you will see its abandoned lighthouse.
The wooden structure was built in 1881 and it displayed a red light for sixty years until it was changed to green in 1941. In 1959, a skeleton tower was erected and the lantern was removed from the lighthouse.
Enjoy the area—it is currently owned by the Federal Government, and is a designated National Wildlife Area dedicated to bird watching.
