I have placed this cache as a tribute to my friend Alan, who lived
on this peninsula, and passed away October 4, 2005. His family gave
me his bike, and I do all my geocaching with it. He was a great man
- kind, wise, cheerful, and witty. You can read more about his life
here: click here.
To find the cache, proceed north from the given coordinates
until you find a large pole standing between two parking spaces.
The six digits of both parking space numbers should add up to 27.
On the pole you will find a small metal plate with a row of three
4-digit numbers. Subtract the first number from the third number
and swap the last two digits of the answer. Call this number 'A'.
Again on the metal plate, subtract the first and third numbers from
the second number; remove the minus sign, and subtract 1 from the
first digit of the answer. The cache is at N 48 27.A W 123 25.B
You can confirm your final coordinates here: geochecker.
PLEASE RESPECT ALL PRIVATE PROPERTY SIGNS!
The cache can be found most easily when it is dry out, and will be
much more tricky to get to on a rainy day. You may want to check
the tide tables before proceeding. Do not cross private property to
get to the cache, even though it would make the going a lot easier.
Please rehide the cache as found and make sure it is properly
concealed.
