Geocache Description:

A simple cache next to the old Westminster Bridge.

Forgot to include a pen in the cache. Please make sure you've got one with you.

Old Westminster Bridge

So, where is the bridge you ask yourself? The contractor who was engaged to build the Church also had the commission to build the new Westminster Bridge, the one you see today adjacent to the Houses of Parliament. Whether as a result of being an early green or merely being careful with the pennies the contractor used the Portland stone from the old bridge in the construction of the Church. So, now you know where the bridge is: it is just beside you in the shape of St Peter’s Aldborough Hatch!

The cache

A small cliplock box. Will take small swaps. If you’ve got some frozboz geocoins or TBs en route to Fairlop waters, you are most welcome to drop them off here.

You do not need to enter the church yard to get this one, but you are most welcome to visit the church itself.

Once you’ve found it: *** make sure it goes back where you found it. This is so it will be there for those who come after you ***

Nearby

Public transport nearby: 66,296 and 396 run along Eastern Avenue (A12), get off at William Torbitt school stop. The central line stops at Newbury Park or Barkingside – either about a 10 min walk.

Fairlop Waters is nearby and can be accessed via the footpath adjacent to Aldborough Hall Riding Stables. A number of caches in there as well as a pleasant walk around.

The Dick Turpin P.H. is close by – although these days they’d far rather serve you a steak than just a pint!
