Rocky Ridge Park, Hartford. This former quarry is at the northern end of the ridge that extends south from the city. Fairfield Avenue in Hartford, then Ridge Road in Wethersfield follow the ridge south. The city acquired these 26 acres from Trinity College in a 1959 land swap.
Best place to park is on the west side of Zion Street along the triangle that fronts on New Britain Avenue.
This is a two-stage cache. I placed the first stage in this triangle so that seekers can appreciate this lovely piece of classic parkland. This first stage can be easily reached with your feet on the ground.
The final stage is an Altoids tin placed behind a rock. This is in an area with poor reception, so I put a blue dot on the rock to compensate. A lot of poison ivy grows in the area, but there is an itch-free route.
Mag climbed here with her brothers when she was a child. A bit of climbing is required to reach the final stage.
