This cache has been placed in beautiful Riverside Park located just over the Juniata River from downtown Huntingdon.
Over the past several years, Smithfield Township has worked hard to enhance this park which now includes two picnic pavilions, a lovely gazebo, volleyball nets, playground, horseshoe pits, restrooms, and a boat launch. Many people use this scenic riverside area as a place for family reunions and birthday parties in the pavilions, as well as weddings in the gazebo (so be careful not to be in the background for any wedding photos!). Others enjoy fishing along the Juniata or just sitting on one of the park benches or picnic tables located near the water. The park is open from sunrise to sunset.
For this cache, we have selected a river theme. We have stocked it with many trade items to remind you of the river, and you are encouraged to leave items which fit the theme – turtles, fish, frogs, dragonflies, fishing stuff – be creative! The container is a standard ammo box decorated with some artwork consistent with the theme. When searching for this cache, you do not need to go near the water and it is not under any of the bridges in the park. As always, be on the lookout for muggles since the park can be quite busy especially on the weekend.
This cache has been placed with permission from Smithfield Township, so please remember to be courteous of park hours. Ample parking is available in either one of two lots right in the park. After you find the cache, stay a while and enjoy the park.
