Parking

Let your car at the start of the path: N50 06.730 E5 24.162
Please note that your are not allowed to enter the forest with your car.

The walk is divided in two distincts areas, on both sides of the main road (N889):

  • The first part (WP1) is wild, possibly wet (boots recommended), and mostly outside any path (do not trust TopoMap here).
  • The second part (WP2-WP3-cache) is almost dry and on good paths.

WP1

Go to N50 06.990 E5 25.015 where you should find a remarkable stone.

  • Count the number of faces of this stone: this is A
  • On each of the two sides facing the path (= the most visible stone faces) you will read one letter: B = value of the left letter, C = value of the right letter (using a=1, b=2, ... , z=26)

WP2

OK. The most difficult part is done, you now deserve to find the cache. Go to N50 06.689 E5 23.977.
If you are tired, you could even move your car for 200 meters (not recommended: I guess you are stilll fit and well).
Again, please note that your are not allowed to enter the forest with your car.

You will find a small signboard indicating the "C.B.J.Collin" path. Note the date DD-MM-YYYY and add all digits (D+D+M+M+Y+Y+Y+Y) to find the value of E.

WP3 (the cross)

Go to N50 06.519 E5 23.736. Please be respectful for what happened here.

  • Calculate the difference between the engraved number of fallen aviators and the real number of victims (1+6=7 crew members, see higher): this difference is F.
  • Calculate the difference (in months) between the engraved date and the real crash date (17 April 1943, see higher): this difference is G.

Calculate the final coordinates as follows:

  • N50° 0(A+G) . ( ( (B+C)*E ) +4)
  • E05° 2(F-2) . ( ( (A+B+C)*(E-G) ) +7 )

You are looking for a regular ammobox container. Good luck !
