Geocache Description:

Silkville

By Matthew & Sandi
In the late 1860's, Frenchman Ernest Boissiere came to this area of Kansas and began to produce silk. While Silkville was never an actual town, it contained everything necessary for a self-sufficient community - a blacksmith shop, winery, farming services, and an orchard. It was also a stop on the Santa Fe Railroad. All that remains is a stone barns.

This is a large container located close to one of the old barns. Down the road a bit is the modern day Silkville Ranch. I've included a more extensive history of Silkville on the cache container, take a moment to read it, it is pretty interesting stuff.

Contents of cache: Unite for Diabetes TB, Disney-Pixar PEZ dispenser, Party Poppers, gold coins, mardi-gras beads, and a Hallmark Kissie Bear (looking for a mate.)
