Geocache Description:

This cache is located in the area of the Brenton Cemetery on the Brenton Cross Road. It is an off-set
cache. The listed coordinates will take you to the parking area; the location of the actual cache must be
gleaned from the clues below while visiting the cemetery. The cemetery is small and the search should
be brief. Please remember to retie the gate when leaving.

According to local tradition, the land on which this church and cemetery were placed was given by the two abutting property owners, John Moses and Jesse Crosby. The Gothic revival-influenced church is a Registered Heritage Property with the Municipality of the District of Yarmouth. It has a hip-roofed tower with an octagonal steeple at the front corner. Built circa 1895, it was originally Brenton Methodist Church. In 1925 it became part of the United Church of Canada. In the late 1950's, when many rural United Churches in the county were closed, the people of the community continued to use the church to provide Sunday school classes. Sadly, the church has not been used since the early 1980's and is in need of extensive repairs. The cemetery continues to be maintained.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO ENTER THE CHURCH. IT IS NOT SAFE.

The cache is located at N 43° 57.abc W 066° 03.def, where:
