Geocache Description:

This cache is a behind a rotten moss covered log at the end of the Shady Lane nature trail. It should not be hard to find even without a GPS(r).

This was part of the Dry Creek trail. In its glory days the Dry Creek Trail started at Staircase ranger station and went all the way to Camp Comfort on the South Fork of the Skokomish.

Later the trail was logged, but this one section that is mostly in the National Park was spared from logging and renamed "Shady Lane". This section is a rare example of the huge lowland old growth that used to be everywhere in Western Washington.

Terrian rating is due to 1 mile hike required to reach this cache and if you're going to be first to find expect your feet to get wet.

A cache can not be placed at this trail head so I've placed it at the trail end instead. The geocaching.com map shows this cache as being in ONP (caches are not allowed in ONP) but it is actually in ONF where caches (and loggers) are allowed. I showed the reviewer a note from the Ranger that states this is NOT in the park.

You can take your dog on this cache hunt but you dog CANNOT go down this trail.
