The cache is located near an old cemetary(1800's). I suggest parking on Kiley Lane at coords 042 07.066, 072 48.654 and walk to the road to the cemetary. The entrance to the road is at 42 07.090, 072 48.698. The road looks like it is part of someone's lawn but it is not. It is very evident where the road is and where the people's lawn is. We checked with the City of Westfield and the road and the cemetary are still the responsibilty of the City.
This is the area of Westfield known as the Mundale section, also known as the West Parish section. This area was once a thriving community which was the home to Powder Keg factories, a Boot and Shoe Factory, Cider mills, blacksmith shop, Marble and Sandstone quarries and a whip factory. It had it's own post office which was the catalyst for changing the name from West Parish to Mundale. It had both elementary and secondary schools. There was a hotel, bar and house of ill repute, all housed in the same building which still stands today as a private residence. The Cemetary was the first in the Parish and now is home to some relocated when Cobble Mountain Reservoir was constructed. For those of you interested in reading more about this section of Westfield; a very good account of life pre-1930's was written by Eloise Fowler Salmond in 1934 called "Mundale, The West Parish of Westfield, Massachusetts in the olden days".
The theme for the cache is Scary stuff so trade appropriatley. In the cache is a rubber snake, Evil Eye Patches, Glow sticks, Spooky teeth, Spider lizard growing figure, a yo-yo, a diver, and spooky stickers.
