Geocache Description:

The cache is is located at the site of an old piece of Americana from days gone by.

I love trains! I love all kinds of trains! From live steam locomotives to powerful diesels, freight and passenger trains to model trains of all guages. I've collected model trains most of my lifetime, and I have a building in my backyard full of them in working condition. Most people growing up now know nothing about trains, and because of that fact, I think we have lost a very special part of Americana past.

While driving around, I found a very old and unique railroad turnable bridge that crosses the Ouachita River near one of our communities. It is in the "open" position to allow river traffic to past. If you like trains, this is a piece of history you will want to see. The bridge is part of an old abandoned rail line that is now overgrown and has probably reverted back to the land owners.

The cache is a regular sized lock and lock box filled with goodies for all and it is located at the site just before the bridge. Parking is available on a turnout just off the road, and you are just a few steps from the old railroad right-of-way for a great view of the bridge. There is a posted sign and a wire cable to keep people off the bridge, so do not go there. The cache is on solid ground.

Beware of mugglers passing by on the road. Stealth will be required.

Enjoy the site and the hunt!
