Emerald Lake (formally known as Toad Lake), is a small 50 acre
lake located just east of Bellingham, Washington on Squalicum
Mountain. One of the county’s four rainbow trout-stocked lakes,
Emerald (Toad) is always a good producer for its still-and
troll-fishing faithful. Expect three-quarter-pound ’bows and the
odd kokanee. Emerald (Toad) Lake gets little press as an angling
hotspot, which is the way its angling faithful like it.
Getting there: Emerald's (Toad’s) sole public access is at the
end of Emerald (Toad) Lake Road, up from Hilldale off Britton Road.
The parking area fills quickly and late–comer vehicles spill over
well down the narrow gravel entry road. THE GATE CLOSES AT DUSK. Be
aware that there is no public access on the southwest shore down
Pebble Beach Road. Trespassers there could be cited.
The cache is a small camo'd twist top. Log book only so please
bring your own pen. It can hold smaller items for trading.
There is A LOT of trash around--please bring garbage bags.
The FTF will find an unregistered Groundspeak Travel Bug.
