in our disclaimer.
Small cliplock container, along pavements/ footpath approx 0.5
miles from suggested parking.
Keep your eyes peeled in the allotment field - we now have a
resident pair of Sparrowhawks who like to hunt here! They're
sometimes seen sitting in the large trees which line the brook's
banks!
Please take care when retrieving the Cache - keep a close eye on
kids as you're very close to a (usually gentle, but not after heavy
rain!) brook.
About The Salford Seven Caches
The Salford Seven Caches celebrate the parish of Salford Priors.
The Parish comprises the villages of Salford Priors, Abbot’s
Salford and Dunnington and the hamlets of Iron Cross, Pitchill,
Rushford and the Bevingtons (Cock Bevington, Wood Bevington and
Bevington Waste).
More information about the Salford Seven and walks in the parish
can be found at Seven
Walks Many of the nuggets of information on these pages are
taken from Mr Bolstridge’s fabulous pamphlet.
One Cache is placed in each of the Seven, plus there is a
Bonus Cache once all 7 main Caches have been completed. Each
cache contains a special item for the FTF, with the Bonus Cache’s
being best of all!
For those with limited time, or kiddie-Cachers in tow, each Cache
can be completed as a ‘Cache & Dash’, with parking less than a
mile from the Cache location in each case. Each Cache details the
distance to the next, in case you wish to string two or three
together!
For the more leisurely Cacher, the seven Caches have been connected
into an 8 mile circular walk. The route can be found at
CacheWalker.
The walk passes close by all 3 public houses in the parish,
allowing the Cacher ample opportunity for refreshment!
The Bonus Cache is approximately 1 mile from the suggested parking
place (which you pass on the walk), adding a further 2 miles to the
walk if completed en route.
To find the co-ordinates of the Bonus Cache (in the format N
XX YY.ZZA W A BB.CDD, where each different letter indicates
a different cache), those for the start of a useful footpath, and
those for the suggested parking place, you will need to visit all 7
main Caches. Please check the inside cover of the logbook for the
required information!
Please take great care at all times. Some areas may be very muddy
or overgrown! The B4088 can also get very busy and do remember that
this is an agricultural/ industrial area, even though it’s in the
middle of the countryside, so please be aware of slow and heavy
vehicles trundling down the lanes!!
About The Salford Seven #1 – Salford Priors
Approx. distance to
Cache #2: 0.75 miles
Salford Priors is the largest village of the Seven. Boasting a
Primary School, Church, Post Office, Public House, and no less than
three public buildings (the Memorial Hall, The Scout Hut and ‘The
Other Place’). Bomfords own two major businesses in the village, an
international fruit and veg business, and a light engineering
business involving agricultural machinery.
St. Matthew's Church is of Norman construction and is mentioned in
the Doomsday book. A number of areas within Salford Priors are
designated conservation areas and there are many grade II listed
black and white half timbered thatched cottages.
Although the Parish lies just inside Warwickshire’s borders
(under Stratford District Council), it has a WR postal address,
coming under Evesham postal district!
