This 2-stage multi-cache is in shallow woods, located in a quiet,
little-known neighborhood at the intersection of Airfield Lane and
Dawn Drive in Midland.
It is probably more convenient to park in the east lot, though
there is a small playground located off the southwest end of the
building, and visiting children are welcome.
The first stage is a camouflaged pill bottle, and the second is
a camouflaged lockbox. The first stage will give a bearing and
direction vector to get to the second stage. Most of the terrain is
paved level parking lots and gravel paths. You may have to move off
these, but no bushwhacking is required.
The caches are on publicly accessible property of the church,
and are placed with their permission. They do ask that we respect
the site, and the sensibilities of any people attending functions
at the church.
This cache is placed in honor of John Wesley, founder of
Methodism. On May 24th, 1738, at the age of 34, John Wesley
attended an evening worship service in London which moved him
deeply. In his journal, Wesley described his "Aldersgate
experience:" He wrote in his journal that night, "In the evening I
went very unwillingly to a society in Aldersgate Street, where one
was reading Luther's preface to the Epistle to the Romans. About a
quarter before nine, while the leader was describing the change
which God works in the heart through faith in Christ, I felt my
heart 'strangely warmed'." Hence, the name of this cache.
Original contents of the cache include a copy of the book, "John
Wesley, A Personal Portrait", which finders are welcome to take
(see pages 48-50 for this story). We have a few more copies, and
those removed will be replaced until we run out. For the first to
find, there will also be a $5 gift certificate to Great Lakes Ice
Cream Company (N43º 37.605 W084º 13.000) Other initial contents
include: a calculator, a first-aid kit, some mosquito repellent,
and a toy or two.
Due to the unexpected difficulty in stage one, we have offered a
more useful clue.
Please replace each cache as you found them. Thank you.
