An excellent vista of the Northstar area.
As a Squaw Valley passholder, with an apartment in Olympic Valley, I don't often get over this way during the winter.
However, this has been our base of operations for the past couple of weekends as we visit with family who are staying here at the 'star. We've done some great hiking around the area, and this weekend had the boat out on the lake for some great caching. This cache is to commemorate an amazing weekend of fun and adventure.
I parked the boat for the second evening, and noted a nearby high spot, above the uppermost of what appear to be new parking lots. Man, the shuttle ride from here to the village would be a LONG one...
I scrambled up the hill, cache in hand, and quickly found a nice little hiding hole, just below the 'summit'. It's a small, camo-taped tupperware, between some large rocks, with a typical geo-pile on top. It will probably be a tough, if not impossiblefind during winter months.
Initial contents included a K9 geocoin, a TB, a couple of Gotwake sig items and some various schwag.
Terrain may be slightly overstated: parking is within 100', and it's only a rock scramble for the last 40' or so. Views from the top are impressive - see attached photos.
