This is one of a group of 4 caches in differing areas of the Clocaenog forest to show different aspects of the area.
This cache is placed at Pincin y Llys, the highest point of the forest at the memorial erected by the second Lord Bagot as a celebration for completing the large range of mountain plantations which skirt the base of this hill in 1803. There are magnificient views across the area.
If you're interesting in trigpointing there is one located very close to the cache.
Recommended parking at N53.05.398, W003.23.905. From here follow the marked footpath up to Pincin y Llys.
The variety of conservation projects run by the Forestry Commission in the area has resulted In probably the largest group of red squirrels in Wales along with otters, the black grouse, nightjars, the dormouse and badgers. A six year research project was undertaken into the red squirrels and the area is now the centre of red squirrel conservation work in Wales. Clocaenog caters for the red squirrel's food preferences, the red squirrel favouring conifer seeds of Scots pine and Norway spruce, and Japanese larch when available. If you're lucky you may get to see one in the wild.
