The Birdsong Liars Cache is the place for you to create and share outrageous lies, fibs, untruths and other forms of deception and dishonesty. I got this idea from the Mendon Liar’s Cache (GCJH7W), who in turn got the idea from a geocoin, so I am sure that many of you have seen this kind of thing before. This means that you can enhance your caching tales about the adventure in any way you would like. The biggest whoppers will be referenced in the cache description so all can enjoy.
All stages of this multi-cache are in equally inaccessible parts of the park and each stage requires a different method of propulsion to access and you will cover a distance of about 642.23 miles (as the crow flies). To access the first waypoint, which is of course a micro-nano, you will need to come prepared with your scuba gear as the cache is hidden at the bottom of Birdsong Lake. While searching for this first waypoint, you may want to make sure your caching buddy has a spear gun and knows how to shoot it because the beavers that live in the lake are ferocious. Upon finding the container at the first waypoint, it will probably be quickest if you head to the airport and get on a plane to Zimbabwe for the final cache. You will need some downhill skis (or a snowboard) and climbing gear. You don’t really need both of these, but since you will have to climb about 15,000 feet in elevation, you will probably just want to ski down after you finally find the cache.
Once you do find the incredibly inimitable final cache container in its extremely unique hiding place, there is virtually no way to open the cache. It is locked with a puzzle so complex that only a person who knows pi to its final decimal point will be able to open the cache. Even if the stars do align and you manage to open the container, you will just find it filled with a soggy log book and a few worthless trinkets.
It is advisable to bring a spear gun*, scuba gear*, downhill skis*, climbing gear*, and plenty of mosquito repellent as the mosquitoes are the size of large cats and come in swarms capable of draining Birdsong Lake in a matter of minutes (much to the chagrin of the resident beavers). Depending on your level of immunity to tropical and arctic diseases, it may be appropriate to wear a full radiological/biological contamination suit in addition to the other gear that is recommended. You may also need to be comfortable sleeping on the forest floor if you did not bring a tent or cannot speak Sasquatchian as it may take several days of adventuring to find this cache. Did I mention that X-ray vision would be an asset for finding this cache also? Additionally, because of the changes in elevation from waypoint to waypoint (combined with the breath-taking excitement of this cache) I would recommend bringing supplemental oxygen or learning to breathe really deep before attempting this cache.
Good luck.
