Located along Grand Lake Stream's "Middle Walk". Flat trail and ,with snowshoes, should be winter friendly.
First, let me ask that you be very gentle while finding and retrieving this cache. PLEASE DO NOT RIP ANYTHING APART WHEN YOU LOOK FOR THE CACHE! The continuity of this cache depends on you being very gentle in your hunt. The original cache was in a stump and people literally tore it apart looking.
While attending the annual Grand Lake Stream Folk Arts Festival I decided to place a cache in this wonderful, picturesque location. I only had a micro in my backpack but just getting you to this town will be worth it. Grand Lake Stream is a superb area for fishing and their fly fishing for salmon is legendary. This is the home of the famous Grand Lake Stream canoes and there are several canoe makers still producing their durable, square-backed models. There are many lakes and streams in the area as well as numerous camping areas, lodges, and cabins to rent on the lakes, all with different ammenities. This truly is a sportsman's paradise! And if you can, I would highly recommend the GLS annual Folk Arts Festival each July. Fantastic live music on the hour and very high quality vendors selling art, baskets, pottery, weaving, carvings, and all sorts of hand-made items.
The original container turned up missing so I've placed a waterproof match container along the "Middle Walk". This is a public walkway that runs from the downtown bridge up to Grand Lake Stream Dam along the east side of the stream. It's along this stretch that the fly fishermen try to land the big salmon. While in town, be sure to stop into the store and buy a GLS t-shirt.
