Marshall TB Motel Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Marpeg: This was muggled and don't want to chance putting another cache in it's place. The same thing probably would happen again. We will try and establish another TB motel in a different location at some point in the near future.

Geocache Description:

As you are going into Marshall on the west side of business Rt 17, there is a stone fence with a marque advertizing 6 of our business supporters. The cache is a 30mm ammo box located behind this sign. Plenty of off pavement parking. The intent of this cache is to be a Travel Bug Motel for those traveling up and down Interstate 66.

Established in 1797 as Salem, now Marshall, Virginia was renamed in 1882 in honor of John Marshall, our countries first Chief Justice who lived nearby. Marshall is in the heartland of Col. John Mosby's Confederacy. Conferedate Generals, Lee, Longstreet, Jackson and Stuart all stayed or marched through Salem during the Civil War. Rather than surrender, Mosby called his Rangers together on April 21, 1865 near Salem and formerly disbanded the Battalion. The Salem Meeting House, the oldest building in town, was used as a hospital for the wounded of the First and Second Battle of Manassas. Even though we have a 7-11, a McDonalds, and a new Bloom grocery, main street Marshall still retains the quaintness of a small country town. Congratulations to LJGolfer for FTF.
