A Family Friendly Cache located on the Hyde Park Heritage Greenway Trail, which runs between the Eleanor Roosevelt Center at Val-Kill and the FDR Home/Library which is part of the Scenic Hudson Land Trust, the cache is an easy 2 stage multi with a decon and 30 cal. ammo can.
The Hyde Park Heritage Greenway trail is a great trail system between 2 historic landmarks, although not on federal land itself, it connects the two so if you wanted to try and get a little history lesson in while doing the cache you could. This cache actually starts closer to Val-Kill rather than the FDR home where a few other caches are located so that you can actually end up going along the whole Greenway trail for a nice 3mi round trip hike should you so chose. During mosquito season be sure to bring your spray, it can get pretty buggy out here!
This is not meant to be a difficult cache, it should be very family friendly, with both stages not far off the main trail. Parking can be found near a restaurant that at the time of placement is closed down at N 41. 45.738 W 073. 54.371. It will require you to walk about 450' to the trail head and you will have to cross the road. Please use caution when doing so, there is a crosswalk though so it should be easy to find. The trailhead can be found at N 41 45.788 W 073 54.435. Be sure to check out some of the other caches in the area along the trail as well.
Cache started out with some general swag, signature tokens, logbook and a geocoin. Please be sure to replace the final and hide it better than you find it, the area is frequented by many hikers, when I placed the cache there was a field trip full of children & their guides hiking the trail who made sure to stop and talk to me on my way in and out!
