Hidden along a 1.8 mile recreational trail in Belmond, Iowa.
The Franklin Grove Heritage Trail is on the former right-of-way for the Rock Island Railroad. The entire length of the trail is paved which makes it great for walking, biking, jogging, or in-line skating. The trail was constructed in 1993, largely with volunteer labor and donations. The trail is used heavily during certain times of the year, so be discreet. The cache is located just a few feet off the trail.
Park in the swimming pool parking lot at N 42º50.69’ W093º36.39’. From there, it is just a short walk down the trail. Take time to enjoy the beautiful landscaping along the trail which is maintained by volunteers. If you have the time, follow the trail to the end.
