Located within the Hodges Village Dam area maintained by the Army Corps of Engineers. The cache is just off Rocky Hill road in Oxford. The terrain rating is a 2.5 because of rocky footing at the cache site. Really not too bad, but you might want to be carefull with kids. It is less than a 1/4 mile hike from the parking area. The find could be quite challenging especially if not correctly interpretting the hint.
Park at the Rocky Hill Rd. gate to Hodges Village Dam N 42 07.931 W 71 52.515. Trail maps should be available at the gate. Go to the left gate and down the road, then turn left up a trail. Going to the gate to the right will follow the Midstate Trail. This is a nice area for biking, hiking, or nature watching. The cache is located at one of the dikes built in this area for flood control. The rip-rap berm makes for a sort of "rocky hill". As I was setting the cache, I saw a beaver climb up one side and down the other. The rock appears to be blasted ledge. The trails in this area are of all types from broken pavement to loose gravel to a variety of single track trails. There's over 15 miles of trails in this area so you can do a lot of exploring with something for everyone. Take the time to check out some of the other caches in the area.
