Dedicated to LLOYD and CHET, two long time fishermen of Fish Lake. Available only June 16 through October 14. May have high muggle factor from time to time.
Fish Lake had two long time fishermen who are part of its history. LLOYD MORRIS (1904 - 2001) first ventured to Fish Lake in the late 1920's as an employee of the Oregon State Forest Service. He told stories of spending nights in the Medford Irrigation and Game Commission shack that existed before the resort was developed. He spoke of catching German browns and brook trout. Fish Lake was his favorite fishing spot during the 1930's and 1940's. Many times he brought his family for day and overnight trips. They still carry on that tradition today. In the early 1950's, he purchased Fish lake Resort and later developed the resort at Willow Lake. He sold both resorts in the 1960's and continued to fish at Fish lake the rest of his life CHET MUSSELMAN (1918 - 2001) was a long time resident of Klamath Falls where he worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad for 35 years. When Chet wasn't working, he was fishing all of the streams, rivers and lakes of Southern Oregon. His all time favorite lake was Fish Lake. Chet gained the name of "The Old Man of the Lake" by being a summer resident in RV space #1 and fishing the lake for 31 years. In June 1982, while fishing with his grandson, Chet landed the largest rainbow trout ever caught in Fish Lake, a 29", 9 pound beauty that still hangs in the lodge today. While Chet was at the lake, he enjoyed every single moment fishing and visiting with his family and friends. They still carry on that tradition today. All of us who knew Chet like to think of him "STILL FISHING SOMEWHERE.." enjoying each and every cast. Container is a short black cylinder attached in a not unusual manner. Contains log and room for very small trade items. Best to bring your own writing instrument. Even though it's on a dirt surface, it can be reached by wheelchair in the non-winter, non-muddy months. Available only June 16 through October 14. May have high muggle factor from time to time. CONGRATS to "quiltsmith" as the FTF and catching the spelling error.
