Geocache Description:

(SI) To je dokaj enostaven zaklad. Do zaklada je treba premagati asfaltirano vzpetino in nekaj metrov nekoliko zarašcene podlage. (EN) This is relatively easy cache. It requires short walk uphill and short search for the cache.

SLO:

EN:

On the hill north east from town Mirna you can find ruins of Mirna castle. Today the castle is sometimes named "A Sleeping Beauty". Its surroundings extend along the plain to the town Mirna and offer an amazing backdrop to one of the most beautiful views in the Mirna Valley.

The castle changed owners frequently. Its first owner was duke Ulrik. He handed over the castle to patriarchs of Aquileia, which installed to the castle Mirna lords. The Mirna lords were closely related to the Šumberški lords and at that time represented within the Europe one of the strongest side branches in the dynasty of Princess Emma.

After Mirna lords dynasty disappeared the strength of the castle reaches European significance only one more time. It was in 17th century when the castle was upgraded from the medivial forth to the renaissance place. In 1435 the owners of the castle were Celje counts and than from 1456 the castle ownership went to the Habsburg hands. Castle was severly damaged during peasants riots in in 1515. The castle also had strong defensive walls but they were burned and destroyed during 2nd world war.
