The difficulty of the terrain is getting to the top of Raymond mountain. Once there, it is a medimun difficult hike to get down to the cache site. Finding the cache once there should not be too hard.
Years ago, there was a mining operation on Raymond mountain near Yosemite. It was shut down and the main mine shaft dynamited shut. At the mining site, there is still some rusty metal parts left over, including a large wheel that was used in conjuction with a cable to get the ore over the top of the mountain. All is now abandoned and rusty. There are still some pits with a lot of loose rock and care should be taken when decending down to the wheel. We were able to get to a campground at the top of the mountain at N 37° 30.724, W 119° 33.034 with a 4 wheel drive jeep. Some of these roads are NOT suited for a street type 4 wheel drive vehicles but you can get fairly close with this type of vehicle. I don't recommend a 2 wheel drive vehicle at all.
Cache container is a yellow metal box measuring 14 x 9 1/2 x 3 inches. It contains:
Camera (take a picture and leave the camera)
A rat's ass (plastic)
Tie down strap
Small flashlight
Address book
Model car
Bandaid
Log Book & Pen
This one should be a real adventure.
