Geocache Description:

If a Cub Scout has completed the second grade (or is 9 years old) and has earned the Bobcat Badge, he may start earning the Bear rank. He receives a Bear Scout handbook and Bear neckerchief and slide when beginning the Bear portion of the boy scout trail. He will continue to use the blue Cub Scout Uniform. This part of the boy scout trail is intended to take one school year, preparing the scout to begin earning his Webelos rank after he completes third grade. Achievements are grouped into 4 categories: God, Country, Family, and Self.

To find Bear Cub you must complete a task for each of the 4 groups. I'll try and make it simple since this is only a 2 stage multi. God: while searching for this cache take a moment to reflect on the beauty and wonder of the surrounding area. Country: On the way back from the cache please practice CITO - take some trash out with you. Family: If possible enjoy the cache with a family member or friend. Self: There will be a project for you to complete at stage 1 which will not only teach you something but may help when you reach the final. FTF prize is a $10 gift certificate to Dicks Sporting Goods. As always, have fun and "Do Your Best!"

The cache is located on the trails in Overlook Park which is open March 10 thru Dec 15. The gate is open from 7am to 8pm during the summer months and closes earlier during spring and late fall so please check posted signs. I'd hate to hear of someone getting locked in. Parking can be found at N44' 28.825 W 073' 06.910 . You can also park across the bridge on the Essex Junction side by the Canoe Portage area. Keep an eye on any young cachers as the trails are steep and slippery in places.
