Brookville’s Golden Gate Park located on the corner of Arlington and Upper Lewisburg-Salem Roads has been used for more than 100 years for public outings.
The park is home to Brookville's annual Community Picnic featuring exhibits, entertainment and a host of places to eat and learn about new things. Old time steam engines huff and puff and saw up some logs. Rides and games for the kids are an important attraction at the picnic. Local contestants walk the walk hoping to be crowned the new queen.
The park hosts a variety of organized sports activities, picnic areas, and shelter houses to rent. Golden Gate Park also holds a modern community theater, with several productions scheduled each year.
The park has a large pond home to ducks and young people hoping to catch that big one during the annual Fishing Derby sponsored by the Brookville Police Department. The park is shaded and is a perfect place to relax and spend some time. During the summer of 2007, a beautiful gazebo, donated to the community was placed near the pond.
The citizens of Brookville got together and put together an impressive Dream Castle playground that still garners a large share of children having fun at the park.
