I first started climbing as a Boy Scout and have been climbing
with my family ever since. Though we mainly climb at Interstate
State Park, we have climbed all around the US including trips to
Colorado, Washington DC, South Dakota and the North Shore of Lake
Superior. It is a surprise to see that "climbing and caching" is
not more popular than it is, so the best I can do is introduce the
basics in attempt to bring climbing and caching together. This
series of puzzles is not meant to be challenging, but rather very
straight forward. In fact, for some I will tell you exactly what
you need to do to solve it. Though some puzzles are tougher than
others, the main objective is to open the eyes of cachers to the
joys of climbing. Have fun with these. If you need any additional
help, please ask. My goal is not to wrench your brains out with
unsolvable puzzles. I want anyone to be able to get these caches
and maybe learn something along the way.
To solve this puzzle, you will need to refer to the book "A
Falcon Guide: Rock Climbing Minnesota and Wisconsin" by Mike
Farris. The posted coordinates are for the Dakota County Heritage
Library. There is a copy of the book in the library, or you can
look at a copy in a bookstore (no purchase necessary). The cache is
nearby. I have personally climbed at most of the areas listed in
the book and a few of these listed routes.
