Up Shanklin Down Traditional Cache
bouton: Oops. Disabled it rather than archiving it before. Up there recently and it is indeed now a happy cow place not suitable for a geocache.

Cache is lunchbox containing logbook, pen, toy ship, eraser, space for small TBs, in spot with fantastic views of the island, parking 0.5 mile away.
The cache is in a lovely spot in the south of the Isle of Wight, with several possible paths to reach it. We arrived from the north via a long and somewhat slippery stairway in the steep cliff, and continued down an even steeper path headed south. The signs said there were mountain goats, which seemed appropriate. But there are easier routes involving parking at N50deg36.30 W001deg11.47 (Luccombe Down). There are excellent views of the east of the island from Shanklin to Culver Down, and west as far as the Needles from the trig point on high spot nearby. You will need to climb a stile or several depending on route chosen to reach this.
