Geocache Description:

This is the first in a series of historic Randolph Township caches

Frantz Family

Welcome to the Frantz family cemetery! Thanks for stopping by for a visit.

Four Frantz brothers came to America from Switzerland on ships in 1727 and 1732. They settled first in Lancaster County Pennsylvania. Later generations migrated to Virginia and Ohio. Henry Frantz (1774-1840) moved to Montgomery County Ohio in 1825. He and his wife, Mary Kinsey, are buried here in this family cemetery along with several of their children including their son Daniel (1813-1901) and his two wives. Ira Frantz (1858-1941), youngest son of Daniel, owned a 600 acre homestead nearby on Westbrook Road. Ira and his wife Elizabeth Sollenberger (1859-1952) are shown seated in the photo, which also shows their daughter Loretta and her husband John Kimmel (Kimmel Road). Ira and Elizabeth are not in the family plot, but are buried in Fairview cemetery in Englewood. There are a total of 24 stones in the Frantz family cemetery, although some have now sunk into the ground. The Frantz families were some of the earliest pioneers to settle in Randolph Township.
