In Plain Sight III Multi-cache

This cache has been archived.

mizdeeds: Spent today with Windrose doing maintenance on our various caches, and this one was very disappointing. We've had to replace a few of the stages multiple times, but it's always been such a fun cache that we kept it going. Today, though, we had decided that with today being the 3rd time we'd replaced a couple of the stages, that instead, we'd make it just a 2-stage multi using the final and the stage before it, because the hiding place was unique and should be visited more. Unfortunately, when we got there, the only stages left were 2, 5, and 6, although the area around the 6th stage had been vandalized with red spray paint. The final, which was a nice ammo can, was gone. The 6th stage and the final were in a tiny hidden cemetery that has an even smaller family area hidden away from the main part of the cemetery in the woods. We were saddened to see the red spray paint on a nearby tree and one of the headstones. We found a few beer cans scattered around, so it appears that the local kids also liked the hidden aspect of this lovely place. Time to leave this area in peace. Thank you to all who visited.

Geocache Description:

After almost a year of planning, the fourth in our "In Plain Sight" series is finally ready! We're back to the serious stuff now, after having fun with In Plain Sight (really!). This one will once again test your perception and geocaching skills.

IPS3 is a 7-stage multi-cache, with the first 5 stages all located in the same park. This park has playground and picnic areas, as well as being on a river with a couple places to fish and/or launch a boat. There are plenty of places to park that will be reasonably close to all of the stages, or you can park at one end and walk from stage to stage along the many trails through the park. There are plenty of benches and/or picnic tables where you can sit and rest. For the 6th stage, you will have to drive just over 4 miles to get to it's location, and it should be just a short walk from there to the final.

Some of the stages are very small, and others are kind of small or maybe medium. Once again, no film canisters, nanos or bison tubes were harmed in the making of this multi-cache. We decided to have fewer stages than IPS2 in hopes that more people would be inclined to hunt it.

Rambling paragraph where I blather on and on about our adventures in placing this cache: Windrose and I researched many places in our quest for the perfect place for this cache. We knew we couldn't rest on our laurels after the first three IPS caches, because folks were depending on us to maintain our legacy of IPS hides for the discerning cacher. Windrose was so wrapped up in work (the stuff that pays the bills) that we were beginning to think we'd never finish this project. We've kicked so many ideas around for different stages that we already have 3 or 4 in mind for future IPS caches. As our imaginations grew, new ideas took flight, and although we were stuck for a long time on just where we could put it, the light finally dawned and IPS3 was born! Just remember, in your quest for this cache, leave no stone unturned, and don't believe everything you see!

There is a special First Finder's prize of an unactivated, trackable geocoin just waiting to be grabbed.

Please use stealth when retrieving the stages. And PLEASE replace each stage as you found it. Also -- please do not post any spoilers about the stages in your log -- We'd hate to be forced to delete your log because it gave something away.

For now, there are no additional hints. We may add some at a later date if circumstances warrant it.
