This was the spot of the GADR. (Great Annual Diers Reunion) Although this is not always the park that we meet at, it is a favorite with family members.
My Great-Grandfather Fritz Diers was the first ancestor to come across the ocean from his fatherland (Germany.)He started farming near Hay Springs, Nebraska and eventually settled in Iowa. We meet as decendants as an annual event to keep up with the ties that bind this close knit family together. Downing park has always been a favorite place for us all to get together. The cache is a camo rubbermaid box with a small assortment of goodies; and I left one travel bug there to up the odds.
