This is near the parking area for the Trail to Lookout Mt.
You can park here for free or drive about 100 yds east and use your NW forest pass and a nicer parking area and the trailhead to Lookout Mt. Once you find the cache then use the above directions to do the 1 mile (500 feet el. gain) hike to the top of Lookout Mt.
At 6500 feet east of Mt. Hood you have a great view with little effort. There used to be a firetower and garage for the jeep that one would used too drive up to the lookout. Now there is just the foundations and about 3 benchmarks based on those missing structures. The benchmarks have yet to be discovered.

"Established in 1911 with an alidade on the summit and a log cabin in a meadow below the top, a log cabin was constructed atop the peak in 1914 along with a 10' platform. A 10' enclosed tower followed in 1930, replaced by a 10' treated timber L-4 tower in 1940. Abandoned in 1966, it has since been removed."
Don't forget about all those Hwy 44 series caches in the area.
