morgs4mountains: Well, it's been on top of the Sugar Loaf for several years, and I am very grateful for the interest in the cache from the caching community.
Merlin is now 12 years old, and we walked up together from Abergavenny today. He struggles these days and did well to get to the summit, particularly as his bag legs are very stiff.
We were very fortunate that the cloud cleared and then winter sunshine came and went as we stood on the summit in a brisk wind. The views of the Beacons with their covering of snow was well worth the climb.
And, so off to the cache location we went. We didn't need a GPS and found it very quickly, and recovered the cache too, as we have decided that it's time to archive the cache. Not because it is undervisited. It's not, in fact it's arguably one of the best visited mountain summit caches in Wales. No, we have decided to provide someone else with the opportunity to place a cache on the Sugar Loaf and enjoy reading the logs and looking at the photos that people take.
Merlin says, 'Thanks for showing an interest, but it's time to leave the hill.'
