Famous Fires of
Sullivan
The Famous Fires of Sullivan series is here to create an
awareness of fires that had an impact on the Sullivan community,
either by destroying historic buildings, or by the loss of
lives.
Just room for a log, so bring your own
pencil.
The East side fire station was built to aid in
situations where emergency vehicles were slowed by blocked railroad
crossings.
It was built too late to keep the Wilkinson Lumber
Company from being destroyed by fire just a few years earlier
The Lumber yard was located in the vacant lot directly West of
where the Firestation is now.
The cache is small and may be difficult to locate. Thanks and good
