Quick driveby, perhaps one of the cleanest laybys in Yorkshire. A local lady takes the time each week to clear away the debris left by the users of this layby.
There are many things to see as your gaze wanders across the valley, industrial Keighley which soon turns into green fields and woods, distant fields and escarpments towards the Dales and Lancashire - you may even spot the EagleOwls roosting place.
What is not as well-known to many people is that if you pass through the "gate" in the corner and wander a few yards up the little-used footpath you will come across a large flat stone (part of the bedrock rather than an incomer) on which is carved a portrait. (N 53° 53.712 W 01° 54.152). This portrait is reputed to be Lord Robert Baden-Powell, hero of Mafeking, and Founder of the Boy Scouts. Its history is one of Keighley's unknowns.
