Geocache Description:

Trail is a level 1.1 mile loop. Parking has a day use fee (Northwest Forest Pass Works) or you can park outside the gate and walk in.

In order to find this cache you will need to visit five locations and collect information at each site. All clues and THE CACHE are located on a 1.1 mile loop trail. You will never leave the trail. If you are going off the trail something is wrong! Enjoy!

If your GPS is working you should be standing near a nifty trailhead sign. Take special note of the map and its north orientation. From the map gather the following information.

A = Year that Charlie and Louise settled here ______
B = Year that Elmer and Grace bought the land. ______
C = How many “Informational” signs does the map show._____ Ignore the “You are here” circle.

Now head through the gate and stop at the first informational sign you see. In Grace’s Meadow count the number of letters in the technical name of the largest creature. How many animals are featured on the sign? (Please don't count Grace)

D = _____Letters in largest creature.
X = _____How many animals

Enter these coordinates (N45°36.539, W122°03.111) into your GPS and follow it to the next location. When you arrive take a seat and ponder the view. Shake your head in wonder and count the number posts it took to make the fence.

E = ____ posts

From the fence backtrack to the main trail and head west until you come to the next “Informational” sign. You will know you have it right if “Cottonwood” rings a bell. There are two benches and three picnic tables close by. Look under one them to find your next number. (Tag Is Missing - 11/22/10)

F = __54___

Remember the map back at the start. Head to the “Informational” sign that is the farthest west. Restore the wetlands and count the number of living beings pictured on the sign. How simple is that….right? Did you miss one?

G = _____

Solve the math problems.

XXX = ((B – A – C) * D) – (E + X)
YYY = (F * G) - (E + X)

The cache is located at N45°36.XXX, W122°03.YYY. The tree cover may wreck havoc with your GPS so when you are close look for the broken tree. The cache is no more than 5-6 feet off the main trail.
