This cache takes you to the nearly completed
boardwalk near Roaring Brook in the Arcadia Wildlife Management
Area. They are still working on the board walk, and it appears it
will provide a nice accessible path across and back over the
stream.
The cache is not intended to be difficult, but rather to provide
a nice walk in the woods, with some pretty views of the brook and
ponds formed by the various dams. Total round trip is approximately
.75 miles of very easy walking.
Note that there are signs indicating bicycles are not permitted
on the boardwalk.
Stage 1 is a test tube sized container, and the final is a 1
liter water bottle. A wheelchair can easily reach the locations of
the containers, but they cannot be accessed from a wheelchair. It
is kid friendly. Be sure to return the two containers back the way
you find them,
This trail is described nicely in the book, Walks and Rambles
in Rhode Island, by Ken Weber. Trail Maps are available at the
DEM
Website Be sure to let someone know where you are headed, and
bring a cellphone. An emergency card such a
this one is also a good idea. Please plan accordingly, and wear
appropriate clothing and shoes, and bring enough water and food for
the walk.
Fluorescent Orange Requirements for users
of State Management Areas can be found in the Park
