I placed this cache to qualify for area 6 of Lookout Lisa's Idaho Forest Fire Lookout Challenge. You are looking for a 30 cal ammo can. Elevation at the cache is approximately 6926 feet. From the Selway River Road to the lookout is approximately 13 miles. The terrain is rocky, so watch your step.
I decided to start working on the Idaho Forest Fire Lookout Challenge by Lookout Lisa and noticed that there is only one lookout cache listed for area 6.
The road starting out is very good until you get to the fork in the road that goes to Idaho Point. After that it becomes very rocky and you will need a high clearance vehicle, atv or you will have to walk.
The Forest Service started a fire lookout here in 1915, it was then rebuilt in 1930. The lookout built in 1930 was moved down from the top and the present lookout was built in 1953.
